The Pantiles is in the heart of historic Tunbridge Wells, an old Georgian spa town. The Pantiles is the 18thc equivalent of a shopping Mall, charming old buildings around a compact public space which hosts a number of popular events throughout the summer months.

Whilst we were originally asked to provide a satellite uplink this proved not to be a great solution as we need a clear view of the sky to the north – a challenge from street level in the city centre environment. Luckily one of the cafes overlooking the square was willing to share their gigabit uplink.

Although the trading area to cover is quite small, multiple stalls, densely packed crowds and converted Citroen vans will disrupt the signal. Point to point links were an option but possibly overkill in the small space so our engineer setup five meshed access points each with direct line of sight to one of its peers.

Result – all traders were able to enjoy fast connection on their PoS devices leading to faster transactions and increased sales.
